Nephi is turning 5 years old this month!  To me it seems like he has been five for the last 3 years.  As long as I can remember, he has been independent.  At 18 months he could cook his own eggs with no shells in the pan, dress himself, and bring the gallon of milk from the car and pour himself a glass without spilling.  He could also open doors, take a shower, buckle himself, and open child proof containers.  So he has always seemed grown up to me.

 

Now he is learning how to read and type and how to not lose him temper every time something doesn't go his way, or when his sister screams at him.  That may take a while.  Other than having the ability to get into and destroy anything in the house he wants, Nephi has been a pretty easy child to raise.  For the first year of his life he slept 22 hours per day, waking up only to eat; not even for a messy diaper.  From 18 months on, he has been as independent as a 5 year old child can be.  

 

My favorite trait about Nephi is what a great friend he is to Gracie.  Every day, he plays with her, dances with her, gets her popsicles, toast, and drinks, walks her across the street or to the garden and holds her hand.   Often he helps her gets dressed and has even changed her poopy diaper several times without making a mess.  They are only 18 months apart, but Nephi likes to be the valiant hero and Gracie likes to be the maiden in distress.   So their relationship and friendship works out well.

Since Josh has to be out of state all month with the military, we decided to have Nephi's Birthday party a bit early.  Last year Josh missed Nephi birthday because he was out of town as well, so we decided to not let that happen again.  We had a pool party at a friend's house who provided all the food.  My friends Brandi and Rachel hung out with me in the shallow part of the warm pool with the little kiddies, while Josh entertained the rest.  First, by making them do fancy dives, then by throwing them high into the air in the pool.    We had an ice cream cake at the party, and then later for dinner we had cheesecake, as it is our family tradition to always have cheesecake for birthdays.  It's our favorite treat.

Nefiego Urodziny i Uroczystosc na Basenie

 

W tym miesiacu moj syn Nefi skonczy 5 lat!  Ale mi sie prez ostatnie 3 lata wydaje ze on juz mial 5 lat.  On zawsze byl samodzielny.  Jak on mial poltora roku, to sam umial sobie usmarzyc jajecznice, umial ubierac sie, umial przyniesc 3 litrowy kontener mleka z samochodu, i sam sobie umial nalac szklanke mleka bez wylewania mleka na stol.  On takrze umial otwierac drzwi, sam sie myl pod prysznicem, sam sie zapinal w siedzeniu samochodowym, i nawet umial otwierac kontenery ktore maja specjale zamkniecia ktore dzieci podobno nie moga otworzyc.  Wiec jak on mial 18 miesiecy to on juz wtedy mi sie wydawal duzy. 

 

Teraz Nefi sie uczy czytac, pisac na komputerze 10 palcami, i nie krzyczec jak ktos go denerwuje i jak siostra na niego krzyczy.  To moze mu troche czasu zajmie.  Oprocz tego ze Nefi zawsze umial wszytko w domu otworzyc i zniszczyc, to on byl zawsze latwym dzieckiem.  Caly pierwszy rok jego zycia on spal 22 godziny na dobe.  Budzil sie tylko aby jesc, nawet nie budzil sie aby mu zmienic pieluche.  Od czasu kiedy mial 18 miesiecy to on byl tak samo samodzielny jak dziecko co ma 5 lat.

 

Moja ulubiona cecha Nefiego jest to ze on jest bardzo dobrym przyjacielem swojej siostry Grace.  Codziennie on sie z nia bawi, z nia tanczy, przynosi jej jedzenie, lody, i picie.  On zawsze trzyma ja za reke jak przechodza przez ulice lub jak ida do naszego ogrodu przez trawe.  Czesto on jej pomaga sie ubrac i nawet on kilka razy zmienil jej brudna pieluche i nie zrobil zadnego balaganu.  Pomiedzy  Nefim a Grace jest tylko poltora roku roznicy wieku, ale Nefi lubi byc samodzielny a Grace lubi na kogos innego polegac.   Wiec ich przyjazn jest doskonale dopasowana. 

 

Rok temu moj maz musial wyjechac w lipcu z wojskiem wiec nie byl w domu na Nefiego urodziny.  W tym roku tez go nie ma go w lipcu, wiec zdecydowalismy miec uroczystoc urodzin troche wczesniej aby Josh byl z nami na urodziny.  Uroczystoc byla u znajomej ktora ma basen przy domu.  Ona nawet ugotowala wszytkie jedzenie nam.  Moje kolezanki Brandi i Rachel i ja siedzialysmy w plytkiej czesci basenu z malymi dziecmi i gadalysmy.  A moj maz bawil sie z reszta dzieci.  Najpierw zorganizowal im konkurs nurkowania.  A potem rzucal ich do goru do basenu.  Po obiedzie jedlismy ciasto zrobione z lodow.  A w domu na wieczorowy obiad jedlismy sernik, bo w kazde urodziny u nas jemy sernik, bo to nasze ulubione ciasto.
