St Patrick's Day / Dzien Swietego Patryka

St Patrick's Day

March 20, 2010

About a year ago Samuel got interested in Irish music.  So we downloaded a couple of albums of the Irish Rovers.  We listen to them quite frequently.  Also about this time we read several books set in Ireland, including one about the potato famine, and the discrimination of the Irish in America.  Samuel's favorite author is Eion Colfer who is Irish, and our family's all time favorite audio book is Half Moon Investigations written by him.  A lot of Polish people live in Ireland.  In fact, Polish is the second most common language spoken in Ireland, after English.

Since we like so many Irish things, we decided to celebrate St Patrick's Day this year.  Nephi and Grace's school had a great St Patrick's Day parade.    We made sure all the kids wore green and even painted their hair green.  Our housing management office had a party for the residents.  In one of the games, kids were supposed to guess how many green m&m's were in a jar.   Samuel guessed 343 and there were 347!  As soon as he won the jar he started sharing the m&m's with his friends and family.  Isaiah guessed the fewest, 70, and won a Dr. Seuss book: "Green Eggs and Ham".  As soon as he won it, he started reading the book to Nephi and Grace.  Enjoy the pictures of my super handsome kids!

P.S.  A legend tells that St Patrick used the three leaf clover to teach about God, Christ, and the Holy Ghost.

Dzien Swietego Patryka

20 Marzec 2010

Rok temu Samuel zaczol sie interesowac muzyka z Irlandi. Samuela ulubiony autor to Eion Colfer z Irlandi.

Nefi i Grace mialy zielona parade w szkole. Dzieci graly w rozne gry.  W jednym sloiku bylo bardzo duzo malych zielonych cukierkow.  Dzieci mialy zgadnac ile ich tam jest.  Samule zgadna 343, a tam bylo 347.  Wiec on wygral!  Odrazu jak wygral to sie cukierkami podzielil.  Isaiah zgad najmniej,70, wiec on wygral ksiazke.  Odrazu jak ja dostal to zaczol ja czytac Grace i Nefiemu.  Przesylam zielone zjecia moich pieknych dzieci!
